The last of the Gauchos, Uruguay
Colonia, Uruguay, 2008.

The development of large-scale industrial soybean farming threatens to destroy the ancestral world of the Gauchos. Don Carlos, a 70-year-old Gaucho and former rodeo champion, is employed in one of these modern estancias.

Yet, his world retains elements of tradition: horse-riding, rodeo, and the close-knit community of his family, friends and colleagues. Precious glimpses of a present that might soon become the past.
