After the invasion of the Serbian army in 1995, only eighty elderly Serbian men and women survived, having remained in their homes because they could not get away.

On their own, they live and survive in their half-destroyed houses, in isolation and extreme poverty. They call themselves Cerna Kukaviza: the black birds.
