Overwhelmed by poverty and despair, women and children live on the streets in miserable conditions. With the help of volunteers, donations, and limited governmental financing, four local charity organizations endeavour to take sick women and children off the streets.

Girls with polio find refuge in the Cheshire Home, deaf children at the Sheila Kottavala Institute, blind children at the Shree Maharashi Academy, while the Abhayashram takes care of women who have escaped from violence and abuse.
